EVENT DETAILS
JUNE 24th, 2010 at 11:45am
International Hotel JFK - Formerly the Holiday Inn JFK
Our distinguished guest speaker for the June 24, 2010 luncheon will be, Mr. Neel Shah, Vice President – Cargo for Delta Airlines.
We are eager to hear Mr. Shah share his perspective and outlook on the overall industry and several industry areas that need emphasis, such as 100% screening, Cargo 2000 and efreight. Mr. Shah will also be discussing the current state of Delta and Delta Cargo and the Delta-Northwest merger.
Mr. Neel Shah joined Delta in January, 2008 and began the task of building a world-class cargo business that leverages the size and scope of the airline’s global network. In the first six months in this role, he led the division to significantly improved revenue and profitability performance. Despite record high fuel prices, Cargo's fully burdened contribution grew by 25%. This revenue growth coupled with a strong expense discipline more than offset Cargo’s share of fuel expense. He has also restructured Delta's worldwide sales force to reinforce the Delta brand, and realigned the divisional organizational structure to introduce a greater level of talent and performance.
Subsequently, he was faced with the challenge of integrating two different cargo organizations when Delta announced it’s acquisition of Northwest Airlines. Delta Cargo was the first operating division in the company to completely integrate, and the rapid, seamless combination of the two organizations was a model for the rest of the company. Analysts have widely recognized the Delta/Northwest merger as being the smoothest in the history of the airline industry.
Neel sits on the Air Transport Association's Executive Cargo Council and is also an executive appointee of Governor Sonny Purdue to the Georgia State Workforce Investment Board. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.
